UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH WHY CAN’T I WORK MORE?????
This character was fucking annoying and pointless.
Steven Moffat Appreciation
One of the most touching tributes to come out of the Doctor Who 50th special was the one to the fans through the character of Osgood. There, in the background of what was the most important negotiation in history, without anyone noticing, Osgood saved the world.
She could have easily sabotaged the Doctor’s plan by telling Kate to check her pockets, but instead of choosing to divide, Osgood chose to be kind. Becoming the bridge, the one who was willing to connect with what everyone had been so afraid of.
She had been neither cruel nor cowardly. And I think that’s why Steven wrote her in wearing the scarf. Because, really, anyone, anywhere, through kindness and courage, can be the Doctor. If that’s not the greatest tribute to the fandom, I don’t know what is.

PART TWO of the great Guest Artist contest thingie!
((If you’re confused, it’s because a week ago I held a call for guest artists, and required a small image just to make sure you would be able to meet a deadline. XD The prompt was ‘Coffee Talk and Sombra in a race’.))
I didn’t expect THIS MANY submissions! Holy crap! You guys are AMAZING! All of these are AMAZING! Saying that I was going to have two rounds was a lie, because everyone passed the first round with flying colors because you were all creative and beautiful and perfecttt.
Out of the 29 submissions, I randomly chose 9 winners! You’ll find out who those 9 are (they already know, of course) when I go on my hiatus. Surprises are fun. O:
THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH. And I said you didn’t have to put a lot of effort into these! OBVIOUSLY YOU GUYS DIDN’T LISTEN AUaodfaohug
On to the submitters!
Part three will be up soon!
So, it’s been a few days since the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who aired across the world. I had to wait a few hours extra to watch my recording of it, but eventually I did on the 23rd.
I have absolutely no one in my life who I know in the real world to talk with about Doctor Who, and the episode as been racking in my brain for days now. So, I think now is as good as time as any to give my thoughts on it.
What the hell was that?
Seriously, when you announce the episode for a show that has been on for 50 YEARS, you can expect some hype for it. Not only that, but in the last episode, The Name of the Doctor, a previously unseen incarnation of the Doctor is revealed who is played by the brilliant John Hurt. This “War Doctor” fought in the Last Great Time War. The war had been talked about and brought up as this legendary and cataclysmic event during the Modern era of the show, so to see a Doctor who actually fought and ended it was very exciting.
Not to mention The Night of the Doctor, a prequel of the 50th anniversary special, which finally gave closure to the 8th Doctor. The War Doctor was born to fight a war that would burn the entire universe, and he would be the one to end it. Obviously, this was all meant to remind the viewers of the Time War and the Doctor’s role in it for the 50th anniversary Special.
And what did we get for this momentous occasion?
FUCKING ZYGONS AND UNIT AND QUEEN ELIZABETH I. Seriously, what did they have to do with anything!? The promos for the special mostly centered on the Doctor’s past in the Time War, and the zygons and the Queens were very minimal in terms of promotion. But instead, the viewers are given about 10 minutes of the actual Time war/Daleks/Time Lords and the rest of the 75 MINUTE EPISODE is given for plot to the monsters that haven’t been seen since the 70s and a character that was only meant to serve as a quick story for the 10th.
So, basically, 11 starts out being called by UNIT to investigate a painting that is broken. But soon, 11 is united with his previous incarnation, 10, who is flirting with Queen Elizabeth I. So 10 and 11 realize the Zygons are behind a plot to take over Earth using 3D paintings, but of course they fail and the Doctor succeeds with his usual Doctor solutions.
And THAT was basically the entire episode. Oh, you thought the 50th anniversary special would focus on the Time War and the Doctor’s past like the promos lead you to believe? NOPE! Instead, the War Doctor is taken into his own future to see this entire Zygon/Elizabeth dilemma play in front of him. Seriously, he might as well not even been there.
This story would’ve been GREAT if you want to bring together the 10th and 11th doctor for an adventure, but when it’s the 50th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL OF ONE OF THE GREATEST SCIENCE-FICTION SHOWS OF ALL TIME, you expect something more.
The chemistry between 10 and 11 was great, and even the War Doctor had a bit of fun meeting his future selves. But still, there was a clear lack of FOCUS of the story and where it needed to be.
Instead of having the War Doctor go to the future to see what he’d become if he killed all the Time Lords and Daleks, maybe it should have put focus where focus should have been.
Maybe the 10th and 11th Doctor could be pulled into their own past and shown by the War Doctor why he did what he needed to do. Maybe all three Doctors could have had the potential to be killed by the Daleks in their own past. We see the horrors of war and the tough decision the Doctor made to end it. In other words, WE SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE FUCKING TIME WAR. But no, instead we get Zygons and U.N.I.T… and the annoying and useless nerdy girl who just wore the 4th Doctor’s scarf for no apparent reason. Yeah, fuck that character.
Also, Clara didn’t really do anything in the episode. She went back in time to help the Doctors even though they didn’t really need it.
And come to think of it, WHY WAS IT CALLED “THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR”? It just seemed like and ORDINARY day with an ORDINARY adventure that would’ve made a great series episode, but not an anniversary special.
Also, Moffat decided to completely shat on Russell T. Davies’s story of the Doctor killing all the Daleks along with the Time Lords. Now, the whole “the Doctor off the find Gallifrey” is pretty cool, but it is a big change.
I have no idea what the Curator scene was. Guess it was just fanservice.
Overall, the more I think of The Day of the Doctor, the more angry I get. It suffered EXTREMELY from lack of focus in the wrong area, and completely missed an opportunity that would’ve served Who lore greatly.
All I can really say is, YOU FUCKED UP, MOFFAT.
EDIT: Another thing that pisses me off is the opening credits to the show. We don’t even get the theme or the TARDIS going through the time vortex. All we got was 11 and Clara walking up to a museum as the credits rolled for the title of the episode and the actors playing. Hell, I’ve seen fucking FAN-MADE openings on YOUTUBE that were more exciting that the official opening! Another wasted opportunity!
